Note: Please, don't adopt from a store (puppy mill) or back yard breeder when there are fabulous pets waiting for homes at your local welfare organizations. The value, financially and otherwise, is incomparable. Often your pet is already neutered or spayed, current for vaccinations, microchipped, potty trained, behavior evaluated and in a loving environment being prepared for home life--with you!

Stores ask for thousands of dollars, while shelter organizations ask anywhere from on average $80-125 for cats and $125-300 for dogs. If you have your heart set on a special breed, there are breed specific shelters that can match your desires.
